Oliver's end of year concert 2015

Oliver has been with Good Shepherd Convent Kindergarten since we got here in 2012.  He has made many friends and learned so much at school. The time has come very fast, only one more week of school is left for him.

Last Saturday there was the end of year concert combined with a graduation ceremony. Oliver was very excited for the whole week to perform on this day. He has practiced his parts over and over again. Singing the songs day and night. Practising how to bow, receive and even smile for the camera at the certificate giving! He was so ready!

Graduating in this special jubilee year (celebrating Singapore's 50th year of independence) the students performed "Amazing SG50".

The opening ceremony - The Lion Dance:

Oliver was one of the lions. He had some great moves!

Followed by the graduation ceremony. It was very nicely done. They put up each students' baby photo to showcase how much they have changed/grown.

Receiving the certificate:

I liked that the concert had a strong theme. It started with the history of Singapore, covering the story of how Singapura - Lion City was named. Then to the modern era, which explained the treaty signed between Sir Stamford Raffles and Hussein Shah. The importance of multi nationalism was shown by Chinese, Malay and Indian dances.

It moved to the very important day for Singapore. The independence day 9 August 1965.

Then to modern times. I had no idea about the game show called "We Are Singaporeans" which is about everything and anything Singapore from its history to culture to trivia. Oliver was one of the main hosts. He had to remember and say all the rules. I was worried he would go shy but no, he was so confident and didn't miss a thing! Very proud of you Oliver!

His last performance - singing and dancing to "One Singapore" 

He wasn't too impressed with the amount of makeup the teachers put on him. All the boys had red lips and red eye liner for the Chinese dance... He was slightly happier to be in the photos once I wiped his face off.
