Haircut

Always great to get the kids hair done in Osaka. This time I managed to have my hair washed and blowdried too!!

The brush

The special brush I ordered using Ashley's hair from her very first haircut was ready for collection. It is a Japanese tradition to make this to celebrate the birth of the child. With wishes for clear thinking/decision making and healthy growth of the child. I wish I had done one each for Oliver and Luca as well. Unfortunately I only kept a very small amount of their baby hair...

You don't actually use the brush but you give it to your child at the special point in their lives as a good luck item. I hope one day Ashley will appreciate we made one for her.  

Ashley's very first haircut

Since Ashley was born I only cut her fringe so her hair was very long at the back. I was getting worried it will go in the toilet while she is at kindy so wanted to cut it shorter while we are in Osaka at Matthew and the boys' hair salon. We made a reservation so that all 4 of them could get treatment at the same time!

Ashley wasn't sure if she really wanted to do it until she saw the boys having fun.

And it was Ashley's turn. She was not smiley at all, taking everything very serious...

She sat very still and didn't complain at all. There is a Japanese tradition to make a calligraphy brush with the hair from the first haircut (sounds a bit strange but I want to do everything traditional!) so they cut her hair slightly shorter than I wanted but now it will be easy to wash her hair and I don't need to hold her hair when she goes to the toilet!

Luca's haircut

Matthew took Luca for a haircut. Each time we visit a Singapore hairdresser we get confused... it is so difficult to explain what we want and of course the outcome is totally different from what you asked for!

Applying for a new passport

I didn't know Luca's passport had only two months left on it until we arrived in Osaka. Luckily we live just one train stop away from the passport centre. Before we could go and process it I had to take the boys for a haircut so for the next 5 years we don't have a funny picture of Luca on his passport like his last one!

Oliver had his cut quite short. Ready for the big boy school!

Luca's hair is quite different in thickness and how it grows so this is the best they could do. Not much styling but better than the funny cut he got in Singapore...

Once we arrived at the passport centre we went by the window and enjoyed the great view of the city and the airport. 

Then we got Luca's photo taken maybe 10 times till he didn't smile with his mouth open and showing his teeth. Unfortunately his forehead is still struggling to heal so you can see a red mark in the middle of his face :(

I mentioned to the officer that our stay is not long then they told me I can pick up his new passport in 3 days. They didn't charge me any extra for super fast processing. Yeah!

We had some lunch at McDonalds then went home. Rinku Town is a great shopping place but with three kids, I don't think so. I just had to be patient and wait until Matthew got to Osaka to help me control the the kids while I shop. 

While I was away...

Guess what Ashley and Luca played? Haircut!!!

Most of her fringe is gone, and right side of her hair is half the length. I should be grateful she was not hurt at all from the sharp scissors. Some of the hair was left long so we can still tie it all together in a ponytail... 

Let's hope her hair grows super fast.
