Farewell playdate with Sena

After the fun morning at Ayako's place, I had to rush home and get back into the taxi with Oliver. One of Oliver's classmates, Sena, is leaving Singapore for good. For the last playdate with Sena, we took the boys to tenpin bowling in Kallang.

It didn't take long for them to get into the games. In the end they were so addicted and didn't want to leave!

Oliver was extra happy as he got to play even though he has an injured pinky. Even better, using his left hand he got the highest score ever! Yes the gutter stoppers were up, but still quite an amazing score don't you think!?

Thank you all for the great afternoon :) It was very sad to say goodbye to special friends we made. We must organise a catch up playdate one day in Japan!!

The BIG announcement

We were invited to James and Nicola's apartment for their very last drinks in their own place. They were supposed to move into our unit the following day. HOWEVER, before the drinking started they made a big announcement - They are NOT moving to NZ, they will be STAYING in Singapore. 

Everyone in there was so surprised to hear the news but we were all happy for them. Singapore is a fantastic place to live. Safe, clean and lots to offer for the kids and the family. We would love to move back to NZ one day but we feel the same as the Williams, "This place is great!" for the time being. 

Nicola's Birthday & the Williams Good bye BBQ

The Williams were going to move back to NZ in mid October, but they ended up staying in Singapore. But on this day they didn't know that was going to happen, so all their friends gathered for Nicola's birthday celebration & the Goodbye BBQ.

Then it was time for Nicola to open her birthday gift from us girls. She was quite worried about the box being so big and heavy, last thing you want when you are packing and moving right? 

Inside there was a Kathmandu (NZ outdoor clothing store) voucher and lots of old NZ House and Garden magazines. She thought the magazines were part of her present too. He he he :)

Once all the lights went out in the BBQ pit some crazy kiwis and co went up to their unit for some more fun. 

Needless to say, it got a bit crazy and went on until quite late... what an awesome night. 

Nicola's good bye ladies night

I am writing this blog not up to date so I can explain something that will happen after this.
The Williams, our Kiwi neighbours were going to move back to NZ for good in mid October. However, the situation changed and they are now going to stay in Singapore instead of leaving.

On this very day, nobody knew that was going to happen, even Nicola. So we had organised a last ladies night out for her to say good bye and to thank her for the lovely friendships.

It was held at "The Exchange" in the CBD area. One of our Kiwi friends manages the bar. This bar is very crowded and popular on Wednesday nights, for their free flow of frozen Martinis! Of course we were there on Wednesday night to take advantage of the special deal.

Some of us had to work the next day unfortunately, but some of us continued onto the next bar "Bobby's" where Nicola's husband James had his work good bye drinks.

Well, when you have a couple (?) or more frozen Martinis you don't take a normal taxi. You order a "Party Van!" It was so smokey, loud and crazy!!!

It was nice being outside and we all enjoyed extra drinks and more giggles. It was such a fun night, thank you ladies!!

Good bye Gabi, Rafi and Inti!

We are very sad to say goodbye to Luca's best best friend Rafi, Inti and their mummy Gabi. Their daddy will be still working here in Singapore for a while but in two months time he will be leaving too.

It is always hard to say goodbyes... Still we are very lucky to have the privilege to fly to pretty much anywhere in the world. Ecuador is definitely far away but it is still a possible destination. They will be there for the next 4 months or so then go to live in the Middle East.

Luca was extra hyper knowing this will be the last party with Rafi in Singapore. They have been best friends since they started pre-nursery when they were 2.  

The day they left to Ecuador we went to see them off at the airport. Rafa and Luca had last giggles together.

I almost cried saying goodbye to Gabi but I stayed strong :( :( :( We talked about meeting somewhere in Europe next summer. I really hope it will happen.

The very last couples night

Since we moved to Singapore we made so many lovely friends. They are almost like a home away from home family and they are very important parts of our everyday lives.

Our special friends James & Nicola and Ben & Gabi are leaving Singapore soon. Them leaving at the same time was a shock to us adults but also to each of our kids. They will have to say goodbye to their best friends, Oliver to TJ, Luca to Rafi and Ashley to Aisla. So sad...

Since we were leaving Singapore for a month for holidays we had to plan a couples night earlier than we thought. I cannot believe this will be the very last one :(

The brewery/restaurant we went in to at Changi Point was perfect for the occasion. Good food and not crowded and very relaxing atmosphere.

We had such a great time. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant and still wanted to have more drinks together. We got moved to the outdoor area after the restaurant was closed. It added more wonderful memories to our special relationships. Thank you everyone.
