Another quick catch up
This afternoon another family friend of ours from Brunei, the Hatate family, dropped in for a quick visit. They were on the way to Legoland in JB, Malaysia.
We made a plan to have lunch together. I wanted to try this new Dim Sum place a friend of mine has just been to, and told me good things about. It turned out to be one of Yoshimi and Takuya's favourite restaurants and in fact they had it on the list to dine while they are on holiday!
So it was easy enough to decide where to have our lunch :) We hopped on the double decker bus to 112 Katong from our condo.
Rina and Oliver:
Din Tai Fung has been awarded a Michelin-star and it has many branches here in Singapore. Their signature dish is Xiao Long Bao - steamed pork dumplings and, well well well that's pretty much all we ate!
In the end we had 5 of these - Yes 5 times 10 pieces! They were very very good!
Takuya, Rina and Yoshimi:
After a very good feed we took the kids up to the roof for some run around time in the water play area. They were zooming around so much I couldn't catch them with my iphone. Being Monday afternoon it was very empty which was perfect for our little ones :)
While they were having fun I took Yoshimi to IKEA for quick shopping (it was on her things to do while in Singapore list). We were home just in time for an early dinner and my lovely husband prepared nice BBQ on the balcony and some IKEA hotdogs for the kids. Unfortunately they had to leave not long after dinner to get to their hotel in JB tonight.
We are hoping to catch up with them once they come back to Singapore in a few days time. It is so nice to get to see lots of our friends from Brunei!

Busy in the kitchen
Since Oliver started his kindy the boys' playtime has shifted to mostly in the afternoon. Luca is so happy to see Oliver when Oliver gets home and they can play together. Luca often gets in Oliver's way as he wants to copy whatever Oliver is doing. But somehow they can play very nicely in their little kitchen.

Oliver's imagination is getting very good. He has created "cocoa tomato" which is when he washes the tomato in the sink then puts under the espresso machine and coats with cocoa powder, or carrot and strawberry soup, and I loved this fish and chips (or a chip?) he made for me.

Breakfast by the beach
Matthew finally returned from his long Kansai flight, the boys were a quite a bit of work this time so I am glad he is back now. We were hoping to sleep in somehow this morning but someone was very awake and made sure we all got up by 7am.
I didn't want to waste the cool nice morning just sitting around the apartment so we all got dressed quickly and off to the ECP for a walk and breakfast.
When we got to the other side of the highway Oliver clicked (we are having breakfast there) and demanded that we go to "Old McDonald" for some pancakes! How cute is that!
It was such a beautiful morning:
Found these gorgeous flowers on the walk:
They were quite big:
Luca was a little bit sleepy:
Managed to get Oliver's natural smile - it is quite hard to get these shots recently, he just wants to do silly faces...
The place was packed!! But our hotcakes were actually fresh and warm :) We learned to get our coffee from McCafe instead of from the normal counter.
So nice to get some fresh air and exercise. Makes me feel good and the boys are extra happy!

Surprise!
On the way to kindy TJ and Oliver zoom ahead on their scooters and find spots to hide. They are so cute giggling and getting so excited when we get closer to them.

Yum Cha lunch in Chinatown
Straight after getting Oliver from the kindy we hopped on a bus to Chinatown. We were meeting our friends from Brunei, Peter and Cameron for some Yum Cha lunch together.
Yum yum yum!
Oliver and Luca were both grizzly to start with but in the end they ate so much! Oliver had some yummy prawns and Luca demolished his egg tarts and Mango pudding in no time. Me? Of course I ate more than I needed but it was just so tasty!

Sunday Pizza night
We used to do so many Sunday pizza nights in Brunei with our simpang friends. Since we moved to Singapore we have been to Italian restaurants but haven't had any delivery till last night.
It was our friend Nicola's sister's birthday, she is visiting Singapore on her way back to NZ. So Nicola invited us all for pizza and champagne.
It was such a lovely night, very casual, relaxing and lots of laughs.

We all had a wonderful night. And just like it used to do, all we had to do was to walk back to our apartment. Nice and easy!

Rain rain go away...
Last week we had some very unusual days here in Singapore. We often have rain but it normally lasts 2 hours or so. But this time we had 2 days of almost constant drizzle. It reminded me of the Japanese rainy season, dark and wet and wet and wet...
We went to IKEA after 3 hours of struggle to order a taxi then after that just stayed around the house.
We did visit our friends in the next tower tho, the boys had fun in their gum boots and umbrellas.

Cool afternoon on Sentosa
Having annual passes are great! We have already done our second visit to the aquarium. This time being on a weekday and early afternoon meant not many people at all.
We checked out some of the sea creatures we missed last time.

Jellyfish are always fascinating to watch:
But still the best part was the OPEN OCEAN:

When we visited last time this restaurant wasn't open yet. But this time we had a little look inside (we'd already had lunch).
It was pretty cool, the whole wall of the restaurant was the one side of the Open Ocean. You can watch sharks, stingrays, and lots of different fish while you dine. Surprisingly? most of the food on the menu was FISH! Ha ha ha!

Naz and Shem's Wedding - Part2
The western wedding ceremony/reception took place at a fabulous location - CHIJMES Hall in town. It is managed and run by a Japanese wedding company.
The actual ceremony was held by the families earlier and we were invited to the reception party. I managed to get the boys dressed in their party clothes without much argument (sometimes Oliver is funny with special clothes and I get exhausted by the time we leave the house...).

We were caught in very heavy traffic and I was very nervous about being late. In the end we were there just before it began, hence not many pre party photos unfortunately.

The place was just stunning! Beautiful architecture and great surroundings:

Luca and Matthew - I made these matching shirt and pants/suit for Oliver and Matthew when we were at an NZ wedding 2 years ago. This time it's a perfect fit for Luca!

When it was time for the bride and groom arrive, Luca started to grizzle a bit so I missed the photo taking opportunity again :(
The dinner was just delicious, it was a four course meal with lots of wine and Champagne (too bad I cannot drink much at the moment...). Luca sat with us the whole time and enjoyed the meal with us.
Once again it was time for the Haka!
Naz had a beautiful white long wedding dress on to start with then when it was time for some music and dancing she came out in this cute short dress.
Mr and Mrs Low:
They had another wedding cake. This time a very cute aviation themed one (Shem is a pilot and Naz was crew).
Unfortunately Matthew had to work very early in the morning so we couldn't join the crowd for more dancing. But we were glad we could join their special day to celebrate it with them!
