Super Rugby Saturday

Matthew flew overnight from Perth arriving here very early in the morning. So we needed a very easy family Saturday. Luckily there were two rugby games we were definitely interested in on TV!

The first game was Sunwolves vs Lions.  This is the very first time Japan has a team in Super Rugby. We have been looking forward to it. Unfortunately we lost 13-26 but we could see them getting a try!

The great news for us is that we can watch some games live at Singapore National Stadium. There will be three games that the Sunwolves will play here. Being part of the Japanese Association we are invited to a kids rugby practice session with the players early next month too! Very exciting!!

The next game was Crusaders vs Chiefs. Even though they are a new team (not having the star players anymore...) the Crusaders were very good. They just needed one more try... The final score was 27-21.

Well for us once the Rugby season starts things get very social. We will be spending lots of weekends watching rugby matches with friends for a while. 

Lunch Date

Oliver has done so well over the weekend in the KL tournament and he has been so good keeping up with his study. He has done lots of Japanese writing and math practice. Very focused and doing so in a good mood. So I really wanted to spend this afternoon doing what he would like to do.

We hopped on a bus to Bedok and went to the mall. First he wanted to check out the book shop to see if there are any more Roald Dahl books there.

He was given 4 of these books for Christmas from the Fenwicks and just looooooves them. He cannot read all the books himself yet but he has been so keen to listen to the stories. Unfortunately we couldn't find anymore there. He had great time looking through lots of different books though (definitely the Rose DNA!!)

Then he chose sushi for lunch. When we go there as a family we always sit outside at a family table but for the first time we sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the chefs making sushi.

Writing the order down:

I love how he eats sushi, just like a proper Japanese person!!

Then he wanted to see his favourite shop in the mall. The LEGO shop. He has been there a number of times in the last two months eyeing out a particular StarWars set. Since the start of the year we have decided he can do little jobs in the house and earn some money instead of giving him pocket money for nothing. Making beds (his own, Luca's or ours) or watering the plants etc. He gets 20c a job. 

He has been very patient and not spent any of the money he got until today. But finally he made a BIG MOVE! He bought s $20 LEGO with his own money!!!

After this all he wanted to do was to go home and make his new LEGO. Not to mention he played with it for a long long time... 

It was such a lovely day to be able to see Oliver smiling so much :) :) :)

New exercise machine

Yes! Swingball for our balcony!!! The boys have been playing so much since we bought it early this week.

It is definitely a HIT!

Taekwondo uniform

It was another practice day for Oliver this morning. When we got there he was given his brand new uniform. I think he had an extra exciting practice session.

I hope he will continue to enjoy Taekwondo until he can get to the next level (at least!)

Tournament Day 2

The first game for the boys on the second day was at 8:15. The warmup turned out to be a brilliant session and they were all ready to go. They were very strong and focused and won two games in a row, including one awesome try from Oliver! That meant they got into the saucer final. It was a very close game but unfortunately they lost 3-2. I was too busy watching the game and didn't get any photos during the games to share with you :(

Tournament Day 1

Our day started very early. 5:30am breakfast! The boys were very excited and had no issue getting ready. Why can't they be like this on school days???

At breakfast we met up with James & Nicola and the kids.

Once we arrived at the field the boys were full of energy and all ready for the big day!

Unfortunately Oliver's team got smaller than last year and we only had one team entering the tournament. Some decided not to join international games. 

They played three games on the first day. Somehow they were overwhelmed and slightly nervous about the whole situation and didn't perform like they normally do. They ended up losing two games and drew one. Sadly this meant they were out of the main tournament cup. But they moved themselves onto the saucer tournament the next day.

The little big supporters, Ashley and Aisla were very good :) I wasn't sure Ashley could last for the day but she did very well. 

We were back from the field by 2pm. After a hot day out the kids needed to cool down in the water. The pool was full of Dragons. It was a lovely way for the kids to connect and gave an opportunity for the parents to socialise :) 

Ashley somehow got better for a short period of time and demanded to try her new armbands. I knew this wasn't a good idea since she came down with another fever at night... She looks pretty happy in the photo though. 

The boys were exhausted and I had a sick girl to look after. They watched a movie in the room and went to bed by 7:30. Even us adults turned the lights off at 10pm. 

KL Saracens RugbyPass International Rugby 10's - Getting there

We had such a busy weekend. Oliver's first international rugby game in KL! Unfortunately Matthew had to work so I decided to leave Luca for fun sleepovers (his forehead is not 100% so he hasn't been playing rugby this year yet) and took only Oliver and Ashley. Luckily I wasn't the only one without a hubby, my lovely friend Charne offered to travel with us and shared her 3 queen bed suite with us.

We flew Jetstar together - with Liam, Oliver's SA rugby besty.

Once arrived in KL we had a choice of taxiing in or this cool express train, which took us only 35min! No traffic, no hassle, very very good. 

The whole team stayed at Ramada Plaza Dua Sentral. This has been the team's 4th year joining this tournament. 

We got to check in just after 2pm. Most of the team members weren't arriving until later in the evening. It was a good decision to arrive early and spend the afternoon relaxing by the swimming pool. Lots of splashing for the boys and some frozen Margaritas for the mummies :) Cannot complain!

Unfortunately Ashley wasn't well all week prior to traveling. She still had a cough and a fever. The excitement and the sickness wiped her out completely for the afternoon :(

At night we had dinner in our suite and put the kids to bed at 7:30 as our wake up call for the following morning was 5am!!! I spent most of the night nursing my poor little girl who couldn't get comfortable :(

While I was away...

Guess what Ashley and Luca played? Haircut!!!

Most of her fringe is gone, and right side of her hair is half the length. I should be grateful she was not hurt at all from the sharp scissors. Some of the hair was left long so we can still tie it all together in a ponytail... 

Let's hope her hair grows super fast.

Farewell drinks for Kylie

The last 2 1/2 months went so fast. We couldn't believe it was already time for Kylie to return to NZ. She has been very good with the kids and we had so much fun together. The kids were confused why she is leaving because they believe she is our family (so cute!).

On the last day of her stay here in Bayshore Park, we had some nibbles and drinks for her by the pool with friends. We had slightly too much alcohol with us though...

It continued till dark...

The kids were very happy running around together. The main entertainment was our dress up lion dance head.

They managed to score some oranges from the cafeteria. They know it all very well.

The party continued on our balcony. Lots of dancing and singing. So much fun!

All the best to you Kylie, we are looking forward to seeing you when you are on the way to your new destination in 6 months time! The kids are still looking for you!!!

Chinese New Year celebrations continued

It was quite strange to celebrate CNY at school after the actual CNY. This year the kindy decided not to miss their Friday Gym session so the CNY party was postponed till Wednesday.  Luca and Ashley were VERY excited to show off their outfits.

Also, on Sunday the annual Bayshore Park Lion and Dragon Dance took place. Ashley and Luca couldn't stay still. They had to be moving with the lions! 

Unfortunately Oliver was too busy playing with his friends so I couldn't get the three of them together :(

We are very lucky to be in a multi cultural city to celebrate many different events.
