Craig's farm visit and more family catch up

Our Day 3 continued. Our next stop was to visit Matthew's cousin Craig's farm. We were lucky to combine family visits and our holiday together. There are three families we can visit in the South Island who we rarely get to see as we often only visit Auckland. Craig's farm was located an hour away from Lake Wanaka, another stunning lake and our final destination for the day.

We were welcomed by these huge milk tanks and lots and lots of cows!

Everything is pretty much automated. It was fascinating for all of us to watch and learn how the current farming is managed. Every single cows data is in the computer system.

Craig showed us some little animals he has on the farm too. A baby calf and a pig family. 

Their place is quite isolated and they have very cold winter here. This is a true kiwi lifestyle. I admire Crag and Licinda. I always wanted to live on a farm but as you know Matthew and I are totally not farmer type of people. We are very lucky to have families we can visit - our kids can learn and experience so much of NZ in so many different ways :)

Once the kids jumped enough on Jonathan & Ruby's trampoline and had a little play together, we went back on the road. We drove another hour or so then got to Uncle Peter and Aunty Jeanne's place in Wanaka. We had a lovely mini BBQ with everyone. Here is Kirsty, Matthew's other cousin with gorgeous baby Louis. 

Louis' older brother Robert and Jonathan's sister Ruby were there too. 

P & J kindly let us park our camper van in their backyard. It was full on Day 3 for us. We will be exploring beautiful Lake Wanaka and its town next.
