Lunch Date with my love

We are spending more and more time together just us recently. Having our super helper Gini makes a huge difference when we want to go out. She can pick up the little ones from kindy, feed them snacks and keep them entertained until we get home.

The other day we decided to visit Sky on 57 at Marina Bay Sands. I enjoy going out at night time but I also love having a posh lunch - especially when it comes with a great view!

Well we just couldn't say no to these extremely tasty oysters which are in season at the moment. Matthew and I have very similar tastes. Makes it easy to share :)

After the amazing oysters we both had a business lunch set each. There were quite a few options but of course we felt like eating the same thing!! French goat cheese with green salad.

New Zealand lamb rack - I still think they serve the best lamb in Singapore.

Then the dessert. I wish they had a little more to choose from. I had this sorbet with dried berries - nice enough but I felt like something different. 

After the lunch we walked around the balcony. Nice clear day - this is looking into the Marina area - Can you see a Merlion, a durian and some bananas in the photo below??

While we were there I got text messages from my best friend Rachael who was in town for a short visit from Jakarta. She happened to be lunching with her partner in the Marina area too. So we decided to meet up for a couple of drinks. 

Since we moved to Singapore I get to see Rachael more than ever. It was more than 20 years ago we studied in a English language school in NZ together. 

This photo makes me laugh, we are enjoying each others company but we all have our phones out. 

I think I had my second drink a little too fast. I was feeling quite drunk by the time we left. The restaurant is definitely nice but I also enjoy just relaxing on the sofa looking out over the sea too.

Anniversary dinner

We had a very nice 13th Wedding Anniversary dinner at Marina Bay Sands. We enjoyed fresh oysters and delicious steaks at Daniel Boulud's restaurant dB Bistro.

We are always too busy taking photos of our kids and rarely take photos of us together. We must do this more often!

After dinner we had a little walk around the hotel for some fresh air. It is such a stunning hotel complex. 

You always treat me perfectly, my best friend Matthew. I am so lucky to have you in my life and as your partner. I hope we get to go out just the two of us to appreciate each other more often.

Taxi ride with Captain Rose

It is very unusual for me to get in the same taxi with Matthew when he is in his uniform. Mr and Mrs Captain Rose :)

Happy birthday Matthew

It was nice to have Matthew with us on his actual birthday. We could all celebrate it together. He had to fly back to Singapore the next morning for work.

Since Matthew doesn't eat cake I had selection of cakes for the kids. I made sure I got the right numbers for the candles though.

We had two things planned for that evening. Birthday dinner and a visit to a local festival.

I wanted to take Matthew to a nice restaurant in our area. Somehow we don't have many eateries that are popular around our place. But my sister told me that this Japanese/French restaurant "Daniel" never disappointed her before. So I made a reservation and got a very nice private table. Of course leaving all the kids with mum and dad! We were having a fantastic time as a family but it was very nice to be just the two of us for a change.

All the food was just divine. Very fresh and well presented and the perfect amount!

Happy Birthday my best friend, super husband, amazing daddy Matthew. I am so happy I could be the one who spent your special day with you. I love you so much xxx

Boys trip to Bangkok

Matthew and Oliver left to Bangkok this morning to spend the weekend there. Oliver to have sleepovers at his best friend Oscar's place and Matthew to spend some fun nights with Peter.

You might think I am a very generous wife letting the boys go by themselves - I am indeed :) and guess what!? I have already booked our girls weekend away in Bangkok next week :) Kylie and I will be spending 3 days in Bangkok. It will be a fun weekend - I cannot wait!!

Matthew came home and told me he had something new onboard this afternoon.

To promote the latest Star Wars movie, the ANA charter plane has arrived from Japan to Singapore. Matthew was lucky to be at the airport to see these pilots with their light sabers!

Something pink for breast cancer support month

For the month of October Matthew is wearing something pink when he goes to work. 

Daddy the Coach

Oliver was so excited coming home from rugby practice today. Matthew got given a coach uniform for the Tampines Dragon team! (even though he can only help when he is available).

I hope he gets lots of Saturday afternoons off from now on.

Captain Rose

This afternoon Matthew came home with extra stripes on his uniform! Our long awaited day has finally arrived. Captain Rose, I am so proud of you!

 

We had some bubbles :) 

In the evening we went out with the kids. First the kids were spoiled with a new toy each. Oliver chose new LEGO (of course) and Luca insisted on a potato with a rope (?) We had to convince him today is a special day for daddy so he has to pick a cool toy. In the end he settled with a new playdo kit - he is a strange boy...

Then we went to TGI Fridays for family celebration dinner. Everyone was in a super good mood and we had lovely food.
