River Safari

Our kids have been spoiled the last two months. Visiting all the different zoos in different countries. And this time they were at the River Safari. As our pre-bought tickets were expiring we had to go this week. This week all the people in Singapore were in mourning for Mr. Lee Kuan Yew who had passed away on 23rd of March.

Not to mention that the place was very close to empty... We felt bad being out and about but we had to make the most of it.

The first part of the exhibition was in the air con. These computer graphic fish were moving/swimming around you.

This was the first time for us to come and visit since they have completed all the parts of the River Safari.

Ashley's favourite exhibition, lesser panda/red panda and pandas. 

I couldn't believe no one was in this section to see the other panda!

We carried on to a boat ride. Again we didn't have to queue up at all.

It was quite nice to see some of the African animals from the other side. You don't see the fence so looked like they were in the wild. We were a bit disappointed about the boat ride though. First, it was quite short for the price of the tickets plus we didn't stop in front of the animals so our kids missed seeing some of them.

We got lucky doing this Amazon ride though. They gave us an extra set of tickets by mistake so both Matthew and I got to go on the ride with Oliver (he was very very happy to go twice!). The first part of the ride the boat started from the second floor and onto the river.

Then as you go around you get to see some of the animals very close to you.

Luca was very upset as he was too short to go on the ride... But cheered up when he got to see the animal show and was allowed to touched this lizard. 

I like the River Safari having both outdoor and some indoor areas. We were so hot by the time we finished watching the animal show. It was very nice to be in the air con area and see the feeding of the manatees. 

The boys were very attentive and curious about all the facts the lady was telling them. At the end of the show Oliver went up to the lady and asked a good question. How did they bring such big sea creatures into this tank? Of course Luca had to ask a question too - Why are there so many fish?? The lady didn't know what to say...

Another great family day out. We only have Night Safari tickets to go! 

All Blacks Birthday Party

The kids were invited to TJ's 7th birthday party with a super cool theme - All Blacks!
Luckily we just got back with some new AB gear from NZ :)

The party kicked off with some outdoor play. They played friendly rugby and some running games. We are very lucky to have such a nice facility within our condo. 

The little ones were cheering for the older ones. 

Then we went up to their apartment to have some yummy burgers and chips. I loved Nicola's detail to the party table. 

She baked and decorated the cake herself. How cool is that to make a little person who is getting a try!

My girly mini-me

Ashley is so funny. She is very keen to copy me. If I have sunnies on, she wants some. If I have a necklace on, she wants one. If I carry a bag, of course she has to carry one too!!

Yes! I totally enjoy my little princess :)

Yakiniku night

We had the Kobayashi family over for dinner. Our dining table is not big enough to seat all of us together so we fed the kids first.

Then while the kids were content watching a movie us adults enjoyed some Japanese BBQ. We use a little gas cooker at the table and we cook as we eat so each piece is nice and hot!

It is always nice to have people over from our condo. We know they don't have to drive after a bottle of wine or two or three!

My wonderful husband

Matthew has been asking me if I wanted to go and have breakfast at MBS for the last 2 months or so. Each time he asked me I had something else in mind or just couldn't be bothered getting in the taxi early in the morning. But finally I thought if he really wants to go so badly we should go out...

Well, it turned out that he was planning this special day for a long time. Asking Nicola to look after all 3 of our kids (thank you so much Nicola!) and let us have a special breakfast and even afternoon together.

 

It wasn't our anniversary nor my birthday. He just wanted to treat me!! I was even given a shopping voucher to get anything I wanted on top of this yummy breakfast together. 

We went to Orchard Road and visited all the big department stores. I first thought I was going to get some new flash kitchen appliances but after few hours of walking around and re-thinking I decided to get something I can wear, something personal.  So this was it.  I chose a Michael Kors pink gold watch.  

It was such a surprise from my lovely husband. Thank you honey I love you!

Player of the day

Who was more excited!? Matthew or Luca coming home with a trophy - Player of the Day!

Luca told me he got the trophy because he listened and he had fun playing rugby today :) Well done Luca, we are so proud of you!!

CWC 2015 Semi Final

Oliver became a big fan of cricket after going to a live cricket match in NZ. He was very happy (also Matthew!) to be able to watch the rest of the CWC on TV.

He even made a LEGO cricket field. Pretty good effort I think!

Back home

We had a week or so to spend in Singapore before we headed out on the second part of our holiday - Japan. The boys enjoyed being outside and checking out the new condo playground equipment. We love travelling but being home is always a nice feeling.

Time to head home

Our trip back was quite smooth even though we had to get up very early at 5am (sorry M&D...). We managed to get in business class all the way to Singapore. All of us sitting together :) Much better!!

Luca and Ashley slept quite a while on the second flight which gave Matthew and I some time to relax. 

Next time we travel Ashley will have her own seat which will be interesting...
