The last exciting event before we hopped on the airplane to Japan (
we got home around 6pm and headed out to the airport at 8:30pm!) was Oliver and Luca's little friend TJ's 5th birthday party at Legoland Malaysia!!
We all gathered at the bus pickup spot at the
Singapore Flyer. Nicola prepared some birthday cupcakes for everyone and we started off TJ's special day with singing Happy Birthday!

The bus to Legoland was very well organised. We left on time and the ride was very comfortable all the way. Both Singapore and Malaysian immigration didn't take long at all.
We managed to get there before the park opened:
Someone was very happy to get his own map!
We got there on the last weekend of the school holidays.
So we were expecting a lot of people and some long waits for the rides. For some rides you had to wait over one hour! There was only this ride at the start of the park which Oliver could try (
he was too short to get on most of the rides...). We waited maybe 30min or so? I was already getting cooked!!
Luca was just happy walking around and getting splashed every now and then:

But again there weren't any shaded areas - it was just way too hot!!

We were happy the boys were fascinated by lego creatures rather than getting on the rides. There were so many cool lego sculptures around:
We all got together again for pizza lunch and planned our afternoon. We decided older kids and adults will try some of the bigger rides and us little ones do our own thing.
The boys had a ball in the Duplo Playtown (
shaded outdoor playground).
They got on this train over and over again!
Matthew took the girls up and down a number of times on this ride - again Oliver was slightly too short...
But while we were waiting the boys had a great time cooling down in the air-conned creative station "Build & Test". I definitely needed that break too!
Note: If you order a kids meal you get a free mini figure - we didn't have to get a big box of lego.
This turned into a great take home gift for Oliver :)

Unfortunately we didn't plan our day too well. We should have done
Lego City area when we first arrived, which had way more activities and rides for our boys. By the time we got there it started to rain and turned into a pretty bad storm :(

After a long long wait - I think it was over 40min finally everything re-opened!
Rescue Academy - this was the
must activity for Oliver so I was relieved when he got on the fire engine:
Our bus back to Singapore was at 5:15 and we were to be at the pick up spot at 5pm. This last ride opened at 4:50 after the rain. We were so lucky he got on. I really didn't want a disappointed tired boy all the way back home...
We were the last ones to get on board for the returning bus - phew! Lucky we didn't miss it!
The ride was again very smooth and reasonably fast. We were worried the immigration might be packed but only took us 15min or so all together. I guess we picked a good time to come back (
instead of staying there longer).
It was certainly a great day out with our family friends. But I don't think we will be returning there soon at least until Luca can get on some of the rides :)
