Visitors from Germany

The Brunke family were supposed to go on a big trip to South Africa during the girls school holiday but there weren't enough spare seats for them (they travel standby like us) so instead they came to Singapore. The girls have grown so much since we saw them last a year ago. We were very sorry they missed their amazing family holiday in SA but we were so so happy to have them staying with us!!

We had dinner together on the balcony the day they arrived. Matthew had overnights in Osaka (again!) so missed out on the big reunion...

They had a couple of places to visit on their list while they were here such as the River Safari at Singapore Zoo and Adventure Cove. Other than that we just enjoyed relaxing at home, swimming, shopping, coffeeing and beering together.

Definitely dining together was the highlight of the day. 

Mina, Maike and Hans youngest daughter, is crazy about Pandas! So they were very excited to visit the River Safari and spend a long time watching the pandas. 

Since Oliver wasn't on holiday only Matthew, Luca and Ashley went along to the River Safari with them. 

Luca was extra excited not having Oliver there. I guess he didn't have to argue/fight nor try to out do Oliver all the time. They are kind of having brothers issues at the moment...

While others were still at the River Safari, Oliver and I hopped into a taxi to meet up with them at the Night Safari. Before and while we were in the taxi the weather was hideous. Luckily the torrential rain somehow stopped as soon as we arrived there. Phew!

Finally after a couple of days since they arrived, Oliver and Helen felt more comfortable with each other. I guess they are slightly older and being a different gender it took a while to find the connection between them again. 

We started off with the animal show. I don't think the show has changed much but we thought it was much more interesting last time. Slightly disappointing.

We then got onto the train to see the nocturnal animals. Again I thought we were more excited last time. Maybe because we have seen it all or the animals weren't as active? Not sure...

The highlight of the visit was this tiger. We were watching him/her sitting in the distance for a while and suddenly it came right up to the glass we were standing by and took a whole chicken that the zoo keeper threw in.   

The day out at Adventure Cove was fantastic. We had such perfect weather. Somehow it was very empty so we got to do most of the rides and activities queueing up for only a short time.

We were supposed to go to Germany this summer but our plan changed suddenly. The kids were very disappointed not being able to see the Brunke family then. So we were so lucky they came and visited us. Their visit was way too short but we managed to reconnect once again.   

Thank you very much once again for visiting us. We will definitely be coming to Europe next year. Maybe in Spring, maybe in Summer.  Until then take care! We miss you all xxx
