Shirahama trip - Day 2

We started off our day with a beautiful Japanese breakfast. We never eat a traditional Japanese breakfast in the Rose family but when I am away on a holiday I really enjoy it.

We watched the start of the Rio Olympics opening ceremony in our room then said goodbye to the minsuku people. Definitely we will stay at the same place again next time, with a couple more extra days!

On day two we tried a different beach, which was still walking distance from our accommodation. The water was much clearer and definitely less people!!!

It was a very very hot day but the kids never had enough! All of us had such a great time.

We were very worried we would get quite sunburnt so even though we wanted to stay another couple of hours relaxing on the beach we got the kids out and went to get some lunch. Thanks to smartphones you can always find a nice dining place nearby! This Italian place in the middle of nowhere was a super popular spot. We had to wait quite a while to get our table.

Once seated and enjoying the view and the beautiful food you could understand why this place was packed! We were seated on a balcony in the fresh sea breeze, looking at the clear blue sea. Just amazing! 

After lunch we walked back to the main part of the town. We walked past the famous Engetsu Island, which is a sea cave with a natural circular arch in the middle. It is especially popular to see the sunset over the sea through the hole. There are sightseeing boats to take you very close to the island. I've read the island is very easy to erode and might be in danger of collapsing in the near future.

We passed a big shrine. Finally we were in the shade!

Our final destination was the same public bath we were at the day before. The water was very nice and I am crazy about hot springs in Japan so we had to make a quick stop to have another bath before heading home. 

We were away only two days but boy! we did lots and had such a great time as a family. The kids are already asking if we can visit Shirahama every summer from now on. I am 100% sure we will be back!! Just writing this blog post and looking at the pictures makes me so happy! Oh I love JAPAN!!
