EYE issue

I first had problems with the retinas on my eyes when I was working in Japan. At that time I thought it was caused by overworking in front of the computer day after day. My retina had a hole so the ophthalmologist gave me laser treatment. It was a very quick one and I could go back to work the next day. Because it was very easily fixed I wasn't worried too much then.

The second incident happened just after having Oliver in Brunei. I felt uncomfortable in my eyes so I went to see a specialist then he straight away sent me to the national hospital where I had full anaesthetic operation on both eyes and overnight in the hospital. My condition was "detached retina".

The Brunei ophthalmologist told me that it happens to women 30-40 years old who has strong short sightedness. I thought this operation would fix my retina problems having the big operation but somehow it came back...

A week ago I felt something was not right with my left eye again. Matthew called most of the places in Singapore and found an ophthalmologist who could see me straight away. Luckily I got to be seen by a fantastic ophthalmologist and he gave me a thorough examination.

As a result he found another tear on my retina and gave me laser treatment on the same day.
He had very good explanation on why I am getting these problems. Unfortunately it is not something I can prevent, but he told me to avoid bungee jumping (lucky I haven't done it in NZ yet!) and boxing.

As much as I would love to catch up on my blog, having the both boys birthdays and visitors etc, I now must spend the least time possible in front of my computer. I need to look into voice recognition software or I must not look at the computer screen at all while I am typing.

Hopefully it will get better soon and I can be up to date on the posts before our busy summer travel time comes!

NZ food and wine fair

I really wanted this tricycle, I can just imagine Luca going nuts about it. 

They had a great range of stuff. Snacks for the kids, breakfast cereals, cheese, ice cream, wine, beer but unfortunately it was all very expensive. I understand the cost of importing is high but nothing was reasonably priced :(

Rugby 7s

The boys loved watching the finals for the Rugby 7s Paris on TV during the weekend. Especially Samoa being in the final and winning the cup!

So they were very happy the London 7s were on straight away this weekend. They parked themselves in front of the tv and watched lots of exciting games for the rest of the evening.

Yes! All Blacks are on!!

We had to record the rest of the games after their bedtime. There will be plenty of games there for the boys. Very disappointed that All Blacks didn't make it through to the final again though...

Becoming our routine - having Indian breakfast in the morning downstairs and letting the kids run around or swim. Now Oliver is at school much longer we realise the importance of the family weekend.

Someone was too quick (Ashley actually) and grabbed bits off the meal before I could get photos... Yes, it is that yummy!

Reaching up to the sky

I am truly happy we found this unit in our condo. Having an extra room and a lot more room in the apartment makes a huge difference in our everyday life.

And this super balcony. We haven't used it as much as we would like because of the haze, wind and the extreme hot weather. But still a huge bonus!!!

This morning the boys played swingball. Of course it was NZ against Japan!
They were saying it feels like they were playing in the sky!

Birthday celebration at kindy - Luca

I must say this was the least organised / easiest birthday cake we did for school. Normally we order a fancy one from one of the popular cake shops here but this time I had no time to organise it.
Since his birthday falls during the school holidays I wasn't going to bring a cake to school. But his best friend Rafi who's birthday is only 3 days apart from Luca's had a cake at school so Luca was very convinced that he had to bring one too.

The problem was there was only one day available when the teacher can allocate time for this. And that was the very next morning. No time to order, no time to pick up the cake.

Lucky I came up with a super idea! I bought lots of theses mini banana cakes and put some pirate decorations on top of them.

To be honest it was the most popular ever, no-mess banana squares!! I think this will be our annual school birthday cakes from now on.

Luca is a very lucky boy to have so many lovely friends! You are growing way too fast my boy!!

Dance performance

Luca has completed his second term doing Hip Hop dance class as an after school activity. This term they organised a little performance session for the parents to showcase what they have been doing.

Last term he did street dance and this time Zumba!!!! 

After the performance there was a little parent / teacher session. The dance teacher told me "Luca is very very creative!" Well... it must be a complement!? Well done Luca. 

Rain rain go away

How inconvenient! Just before Oliver's school bus arrived it started to pour down with rain...

I had to give him a pair of gumboots, a raincoat to cover his backpack and the umbrella for the 3 min walk from the drop off point to our tower. 

TRC Touch tournament 2016 Day 2

Day 2 was just Oliver.  But first he had his Tae Kwon Do grading so he missed the first game. Without their star half-back the first game was a loss.

Once he hit the field they started winning again.  Oliver doesn't stop running when the game is in play, he goes after every player and every ball.  On this day there were a few less players, so Oliver ended up playing for his team as well as the Green Dragons.

The Green Dragons won the Shield, while the White Dragons were third in the Cup.

It was a very long, hot and tiring (he also attended a birthday party on Sunday evening) weekend for our Oliver but he loved every moment.  We loved how he tried hard and never gave up.
