A380 ride
We travel quite frequently and the planes do not excite us as much as they used to. But on the way back from Melbourne to Singapore we certainly looked very much like plane enthusiasts!
We were flying on the A380 - the world's largest passenger airliner for the first time!!!
Oliver calls it an airplane with a big nose!
Inside the plane was certainly spacious - especially in business. I could understand why the CA had to make a special announcement saying "for your safety please do not sleep on the floor!"
A few too many buttons for the boys to play with though...
It took a while to them to settle down but once they were asleep they loved their nice bed!
Unfortunately I didn't get too long a sleep but certainly having a lot of space helped me relax. We were going to be shown the inside the cockpit when we left the plane but the boys were way too tired for that... (we arrived at 9:30pm Singapore time) I guess we need to travel on it at least one more time to view the cockpit!!

7 hours in Melbourne
Our wonderful holiday in NZ came to an end (already...). We could fly directly to Singapore but we decided to stopover in Melbourne to see more friends from Brunei - Aynur, Ali and their children.
We took a shuttle bus from the airport which was surprisingly efficient and we arrived in 20min! I thought a 7 hour stopover sounded longish but considering re-checking in for an international flight it put us in a rather rush mode...
We met up at the bus/train station then took a stroll towards the Yarra River. The kids were so happy to see each other, unfortunately Luca was very tired from getting up at 4:30am for the first flight :(
Oliver on the other hand was in full swing. He was very happy to see his little friend Muhammad. He was very busy watching the number of different trains and trams going around the city.

Guess what? The boys found a big stick! (Muhammad, Oliver and Hamza)
Muhammad wanted me to take a photo of him - beautiful boy!
We walked along the river then came out at the tram track again. Oliver was so happy to find out we were getting on the street tram with his friends! Here they are waiting for the tram to arrive.

Good buddies:
The tram was a free one for tourists to go around the city center. It was nice to hear the announcements as we went past some important buildings etc.
We got off at Docklands.

Oliver learned something new while in NZ - rolling down the hills!
We walked some more around the city centre and had lunch in a cafe. We really enjoyed having a talk and catching up with what we are all up to since we left Brunei.
By this time Luca was way too tired and fell asleep...
It was a bit of a short visit to see the city itself but we were happy we got to see our friends. We will be planning a longer trip there next time, hopefully not too far in the future :)

Rose Garden
Fun at Old MacDonald's Country Kindy
Our boys were very lucky to be able to attend 2 days at Merryn and Dennis's kindy. We haven't placed Oliver into preschool in Singapore yet so we knew he was dying to play and have fun with kids his own age.
Merryn kindly took lots of photos to show me how the days went. I could see he had so much fun and was right into all the activities offered to him. Unfortunately I can only put up the photos that doesn't have other children in it, but you can still see how much fun the boys had!

They are so privileged as the kindy has a farm park right next to it and they have regular visits to the farm as an activity each week.

Playdate with Eli
We visited our long-time friends Browyn and Scott during our stay. This visit was extra special as we got to meet their baby Eli for the first time!!
He was just as I was imagining, very smily and relaxed!
The boys got straight into play:
Eli is about 6 weeks younger than Luca. Luca looks older but he is certainly smaller than Eli.

We had yummy pizza for dinner and enjoyed catching up. Unfortunately our boys got tired and scratchy so we had to leave. It will be interesting to catch up with them when we next visit to see how much each boy has grown :)

Coffee and cakes in Mission Bay
The main reason for this trip was to meet our brand new niece, baby Harriet (and to visit her mummy and daddy). So we decided to spend the afternoon with them. Unfortunately Richard was busy at work, and we didn't have enough space in the car to bring Luca along so only 5 of us went to Mission Bay.
We weren't sure why so so many people were at the beach and the park. Being a Friday? The end of Uni term? There were people everywhere!!
So we sort of had to escape from the main part of the bay and walk away from the crowds.
Oliver was very happy with the tricycle and having the full attention of both his parents.

Harriet was very asleep. She must have liked the fresh sea breeze!
Caroline and Harriet - Beautiful Rangitoto Island as the backdrop:
The wind got a bit nippy after a while so we had some hot chocolate and nice cakes!
Harriet stayed asleep and not having our noisy little Luca, we had nice chit chat :) It was such a lovely afternoon - thank you Caroline and Harriet!
It was our last day in Auckland for this trip. The weeks went by so fast! It is a shame we cannot stay longer, finally the weather is getting just right :(

Lego fun
While we were out running around looking for our golf balls, Merryn and Caroline looked after Oliver and Luca. Merryn had her secret weapon out! - Lego blocks!!!! These blocks were the ones Matthew used to play with when he was little.
Well did my kids enjoy playing with Lego?
YUP 120%!
According to Merryn and Caroline they just concentrated on whatever they were building for such a long time :)

A day out playing golf
What a fantastic day we had!
Dennis, Matthew, Richard and I went out for a game of golf. We haven't played for such a long time so went out yesterday to a driving range to hit some balls. I think it was a good move - made us all slightly relaxed for today's game.
We decided to play in teams. Rose family (Matthew&Dennis) vs Rose in-laws (Richard and I). We had special rules. We each start off with our own tee-shot and from there pick the best ball to continue the game (Ambrose). It was a very fun way to play, as you ended up on the green far quicker (for me especially...) and slightly less stressed for each shot as you have a back up shot (the other person in the team).

At the end I was exhausted going up and down the hills (it was quite a hilly course) and zig-zagging. But I loved being out in the fresh air and enjoyed the game. I had some satisfying shots and lost only one ball so all good :)
I guess I should mention here that the Rose family team won by 3 shots... Next time we visit we will have a revenge game for sure!

It's a beautiful butterfly
Like the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar, this caterpillar made a cocoon and stayed inside for a long time.
But when the time came, he emerged out of it to became a beautiful butterfly!
