Drawing is fun
I am not sure when Luca learned to hold pens or crayons but he is doing well with his drawing (you always remember lots of first-time events with your first one and the second one just grows without you noticing right?).
He is very very intense once he starts...

Gong xi fa chai
Oliver has been waiting for this day for the last few weeks - the Chinese New Year Celebration Party at kindy. He has been practicing the lion dance, playing cymbals (I think it was his part in the music composition) and of course the "gong xi" song!
Unfortunately the parents weren't invited to see any of the exciting events but when I picked him up he was very very happy - I am sure he must have had a wonderful time :)
He came home with some goodies. More craft work, angpao - the red envelope with two golden chocolate coins inside and two mandarin oranges.
Our condo is getting ready for the celebration too, here is Oliver after school:

Fun in the water
The boys had fun splashing in the condo swimming pool this evening. Oliver used to be confident in the water without his arm bands but somehow he became scared of water. So we just put his arm bands back on today.
He was a very happy boy again!
Luca can be in the water the whole day - He just looooooves being in the water.
They just have so many giggles together - becoming such good friends :)

Play-doh addicts
The boys love playing with play-doh at the moment. They even listen to me so well if I mention play-doh! It's a great activity as I can keep both boys sitting down for a reasonable time (instead of jumping on the bed or chasing each other smashing everything...).
This afternoon we spent another lovely hour together.
Luca is actually very good using both his hands and tools:
He just had to open everything he can to open the scissors - his other hand and even his mouth!
Oliver is still very keen on making birthday cakes, well it is improving - it's getting better and has different texture plus it's multi coloured!
My only problem is Oliver is hiding his masterpieces in his special box in his bedroom and I keep on finding the bits everywhere in the apartment...

More crafty project from kindy
Matthew did the school pick up today. We were going down to Parkway Parade (our nearest shopping mall complex) for some shopping and lunch so I was waiting at the bus stop with Luca.
It is just such a wonderful feeling when your child is so excited and with a huge smile calling out "mummy!!!" He was very very excited to tell me about his 手 [shǒu] he made and the CNY lantern.
I took this photo when we got home in the afternoon. He even sang a song to go with it - so cute!

Weekend day out
We have been quite lucky since Oliver started his kindy for Matthew to get days off during the weekend. We didn't like going anywhere on the weekend here as people are everywhere but now we are getting used to walking in the crowds.
The Hatate family got back from JB, Malaysia and wanted to spend a day with us. We decided to take the kids to the aquarium - nice and cool and we have the annual pass - good for us!
A crisp beautiful day!
The CNY decorations are now out everywhere we go:
Oliver enjoyed showing off that he knows the way around the aquarium and told lots about the fish to Rina and her dad.
This time we tried the newly opened restaurant inside the aquarium. It was the weekend and right on lunch time so we didn't get the table we wanted which was right beside the ocean view tank.
But still impressive!
Takuya and Yoshimi:
We had fish and chips (as you do in the aquarium... I wonder which fish we got) and some wagyu burger and seafood pasta. It was all quite tasty!
After lunch we treated Rina and Oliver with "press a penny".
In the afternoon we headed out to Clarke Quay for a river cruise. It was a 40min ride from Clarke Quay to Marina Bay and back. The hot sun was starting to go down - perfect timing for a river ride :)

On the way back to Clarke Quay - What a beautiful evening it was!
What do you need after a whole day out? Some cold beer! This new place in Clarke Quay which our NZ friends have been raving about serves NZ beer and food.
We only had some drinks, and had a quick Japanese dinner nearby as the kids were getting too tired. But we will be back (hopefully to enjoy some adult only time) - the food menu looked very very good!
Rina and Oliver were both crying when they had to say good bye - bless them, they were so cute. It was lovely to spend a day with the Hatate family before they fly out. Hope to see you soon again!

Ka Pai Island
No, we didn't visit a new island. It is a board game Oliver and Luca got for Christmas from their NZ family. This is the very first board game for Oliver to play. He was very good at listening to the rules and the goal of the game :)
Throwing the dice was a bit of a mission - he didn't know how strong to throw...
It was a good decision we play it while Luca was asleep, as the boys opened the box this morning and we cannot see the dice anywhere... Someone has hidden it... hmmm I wonder who?

Sunday brunch!
Finally I got around to organising a home-get-together with our friends. Friends here are very good at doing quick get togethers and we have been to so many of their BBQs and dinners etc.
So this morning Nicola, James and Naz came around for some breakfast.
The kids enjoyed some pancakes, eggs and sausages:
It was very nice and relaxing, we had eggs benedict, croissants, spaghetti on toast and some fruit & yoghurt! Yum Yum Yuuuuum :)
The kids were very content playing with play-doh for a loooooong time!
I love having people around! Hopefully I can organise a nice sushi night soon :)
