A visit to SEA Aquarium

The best excursion we could offer in Singapore when the sun is shining too much - The SEA Aquarium on Sentosa! Our kids love a visit there even though they have been so many times now. They have changed the layout a little bit so we started with the sharks.

It is interesting to see how the water is kept clean. Here is Harriet intensively watching the scuba diver using the vacuum cleaner.

I like the walk through parts but my favourite is still the Open Ocean. We had some lunch watching these amazing sea creatures. Very relaxing. 

Then we moved onto the jellyfish exhibition. Luca insisted on taking a selfie "me and the jellyfish". He desperately wanted me to upload the pictures onto my Facebook! He is so funny...

To wrap up our exciting visit, they got to touch the starfish and walk the glass floor.  

Marine Cove

A new playground has opened on ECP called Marine Cove. We have heard lots of good things from friends and finally made our way there with our visitors. Unfortunately the main climbing frame was under maintenance :( Still there was lots of other equipment the kids enjoyed playing on.

Boo!!! Why why why!?

Georgia had some energy boost before her exercise:

We thought it would be slightly cooler but the afternoon sun stayed around. Poor Cotty family found it very very hot!

Our boys had a ball. They were very excited about trying new equipment. Like this high tech one. You press the buttons on the sides matching with the screen on the top. It made them go around endlessly - great exercise.

I still prefer the old fashioned climbing frames though. To my surprise, Oliver was fearless but Luca was very scared of the unstable ropes and he did NOT want to climb up.

Ashely was so keen on jumping. I think she got the most out of this excursion!

It was a nice family evening out! Very tired kids and relaxing evening to follow for us adults, just perfect!

Award giving and practice

Our Japanese calligraphy teacher Ms. Ishiwata had wonderful news for all the kids. All of the four attending her class on Sundays here at the Rose residence won a prize in the competition they entered before the summer holiday. Ayaka (in the picture below) got the best prize - Diamond, Another Ayaka got a Gold medal, and Yuhka and Oliver got Silver!! Yeah they were so proud of themselves!!

With big smiles on their faces we continued this week's practice to enter another competition. Caroline joined in with the kids. She did very very well!

The Cotties are in Singapore

Hooray! Finally the family who has not visited us in Singapore made their way. Caroline, Richard, Harriet and baby Georgia arrived! They are still quite jet lagged but very happy to be in the warmth I think!

The best thing for jet lag? Outdoor activity I believe! Ashley was given a matching pink swim hat and gorgeous flamingo togs :) Very lucky girl!

We had two bad hazy days at the start of September so I was very worried about the weather. But no problems at all - look at the blue sky! The Cotties loved being in the water. Just perfect for a quick morning swim!

Hopefully we will have more of these clear days while they are here. So happy to have you all!!

The brush

The special brush I ordered using Ashley's hair from her very first haircut was ready for collection. It is a Japanese tradition to make this to celebrate the birth of the child. With wishes for clear thinking/decision making and healthy growth of the child. I wish I had done one each for Oliver and Luca as well. Unfortunately I only kept a very small amount of their baby hair...

You don't actually use the brush but you give it to your child at the special point in their lives as a good luck item. I hope one day Ashley will appreciate we made one for her.  

Little Soccer fans

Crazy sports fans Rose family found that another soccer game was on tonight. Japan is playing against the UAE. It is one of the games for the Asian qualifiers final round for FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018.

The kids were very excited to be in their soccer uniform.

It was an unbelievably frustrating game. I think the worst I have seen. Mostly because the referees' decisions were all very strange and unfair. The result? Even worse... Japan lost 1-2. Now we have to win all 4 games to definitely get through. 

The first day back

Here is Oliver ready for his first day of Term 2 at the Japanese School in Singapore. He was up early and was very excited to see all his friends :)
