Luca's 5th birthday morning

Our birthday boy requested a rugby themed birthday just like his big brother. The only thing was that he told me that was what he wanted the night before... Matthew was away on his trip so I had to somehow get the house ready by myself to surprise Luca.

I love putting our birthday bunting up (Thank you Boel for letting me copy yours).

I brought out the Japanese Super Rugby team - Sunwolves supporter items to decorate the dining room. Ready for the next day. 

All the kids were up at 6am to have the little celebration before Oliver went to school. 

We kept most of the presents aside so that Luca could open them when Matthew got back from his trip. He was very excited to open one present from us.

Very successful birthday morning for a super excited 5 year old. Happy Birthday Luca!!!

Converse Love

While we were in KL we managed to visit one of the Japanese owned outlet malls. They had very well priced Converse shoes and I just couldn't resist them. The boys got a cool pair each :)

KL Tigers Tournament

What an amazing weekend we had in KL! Oliver's second, Luca's first international rugby tournament! Last time I had to leave Luca with friends as Matthew had to work but this time we managed to get away as a family - much much better!!

Last time the hotel the team booked was right in the city which was not bad at all but this time it was right at the airport. Having a very short trip off the plane meant we had some extra time for relaxing! We booked connecting rooms. It was super spacious!

We arrived on Friday evening after Oliver came back from school. We only had time to have a quick dinner before putting the boys to bed for a super early start the next day. We were up at 5 am, had breakfast and got on a bus to get to the field. Matthew was assistant coach for the Under 7s team. The older boys straight away got into their warm up. 

Luca's team didn't start till later. Well it wasn't actually his team as he belongs to Under 5s. But Under 6s team had a couple of players short so he got to play in Under 6s!! His very first tournament! Luca's teammates were all very friendly to him. Luca couldn't get over the fact he could play in the big boy team plus he suddenly got so many new friends! 

The place had music going and there were little stalls for the players to buy rugby goods and food & drinks. Very good set up. 

It got seriously hot towards midday - poor Ashley had nowhere else to go...

Back at the hotel the boys had a ball playing with their friends in the swimming pool - Cooling down from the super rugby day!

The second day - ready for action!

Oliver's team started in 4th place and Luca's 5th. In the end Luca's team won the Plate and Oliver's team was 4th overall.  

So so cute!!

Unfortunately the team had a very tight schedule getting back to the hotel on the bus so we weren't able to stay for the medal presentation. Here is Oliver getting his medal from Coach Jono.

It was such a great trip away. The boys had an amazing time and are now so super keen to play more rugby!!! Well done boys!

Dinosaur

Luca's recent masterpiece. He is really creative!

Basketball court

Oliver and TJ have been playing in the basketball court recently. I just discovered today that I can see them off our balcony really well. Even up on the 21st floor I can hear their happy screams too!

Mr Snail

On the way to a friend's place in the condo Ashley spotted a snail. She called it Mr Snail and told me that he needs an u-m-b-rella (this is how she talks, separating the sounds to make sure she can pronounce them). Yes here in Singapore we need umbrellas all the time both sunny and rainy days :)

First time at the movies

A very intense concentrating and chatty lady in the movie theatre :) Luca and Ashley enjoyed watching Zootopia with Daddy with loads of popcorn!

Rafi's sleepover

Smiles all around to have Rafi (alone) for a sleepover for the first time.

Dinner on the balcony:

Bedtime - He was so good, just said good night and went to sleep. Luca was slightly disappointed, expecting more talking and giggling with Rafi like Oliver does when he has his friends over. 

In the morning Rafi was woken up by a big cuddle from Ashley:
